About — ESPRĒN
Our story
We chase rare coffee. Then we roast it carefully.
ESPRĒN is a small specialty roaster sourcing exotic, single-lot coffees from the world's quietest farms — and getting them to your kitchen at peak.
What we do
ESPRĒN is a London-registered specialty coffee company. We do three things:
We source exotic, rare-varietal coffees — micro-lots from Colombia, Ethiopia, Panama, and Kenya. Coffees most roasters can't get, or won't bother with.
We roast them ourselves, in small batches, and ship within 48 hours of roast.
We sell them online — to people who've outgrown supermarket coffee and want to taste what specialty actually tastes like.
That's the whole company.
Why "rare"
Most coffee on shelves comes from two or three commodity varietals — Caturra, Catuai, Bourbon — grown at scale to feed a global market. Drinkable coffee. Reliable. Forgettable.
The world we live in is bigger than that. There are coffees that taste like jasmine and bergamot. Coffees with the structure of a great Burgundy. Coffees that finish like dark chocolate and dried fig and last for an hour. They exist on small farms, in small lots, and they're hard to find.
That's the coffee we want to drink. So that's the coffee we built ESPRĒN to source.
Why fresh
Coffee is alive in a way most people don't realize. The first ten days after roast are when the chemistry settles. Days 10–30 are the window where it sings. After that, it fades — fast.
Supermarket coffee is often six months past roast by the time you brew it. Even most "specialty" online roasters ship from older inventory. We don't hold inventory we can't drink. We roast small, ship fast, and tell you exactly when each bag was roasted.
If you've never had coffee within two weeks of roast, the difference is not subtle.
Where we are now
ESPRĒN is online-first. We ship across the UK from our roastery in Bath. There is no walk-in café yet, but there will be — likely London or Cairo, depending on which city falls into place first.
For now, we'd rather get the coffee right than rush a storefront.
Who's behind this
[Founder paragraph — to be written together. Suggested shape: one or two sentences on who started ESPRĒN, why specialty coffee, what you were doing before. Keep it human, not corporate. Origin Coffee, La Cabra, and Drop Coffee all introduce their founders by first name and a single anecdote — that's the tone.]
