Story
High in Caldono, Cauca, Finca Patio Bonito covers eleven hectares — nine of them planted with coffee, some 47,000 trees across thirteen varieties. Ocean winds and altitude make Cauca one of Colombia’s coolest coffee regions. Carlos Arturo Trujillo has farmed this land for almost fifty years, building a family farm grounded in quality, soil conservation and care for the land.
Nearly fifty years of experience meet a new generation at Patio Bonito. Carlos works alongside his daughter Paola — a former cupper and green-coffee buyer in Nariño and Huila who returned to the farm in 2022. Together they refine the farm’s washed and natural processes, pairing Carlos’s experience with Paola’s precise reading of quality and flavour.
This Chiroso — an arabica descended from Ethiopian landraces, prized for its elongated bean and expressive cup — is a washed coffee: picked ripe, depulped, fermented in tanks and washed clean before drying. Since returning in 2022, Paola has reshaped processing here, chasing greater clarity and sweetness with methods like thermal shock and anaerobic modulation.
“The best legacy we can leave to our children is love, knowledge, and a planet in which to live.”— Carlos Arturo Trujillo

This Chiroso is a washed coffee — cherries picked ripe, depulped the same day, then fermented in tanks before being washed clean and dried. Since returning in 2022, Paola has reshaped processing here, drawing on her years cupping and buying to chase greater clarity, sweetness and a bright, expressive cup.
Bright, sweet, orange-forward.
